Attorney Biography
Patrick Kunes is a third generation attorney in Tifton, who started practice of law in 2008. He graduated from Tift County High School in 1999, and then received a full academic Governor's Scholarship through the Georgia Scholar Program. He attended the University of Georgia where he received a B.A in History. in 2003, and was nominated for the Heggoy Award for best senior thesis. While in Athens he served as Lighting Director (LD) for live music performances, along with other aspects of production for the venue called the Georgia Theatre. Patrick finished his Juris Doctor at Georgia State University College of Law in 2008, where he was Vice President of the Oglethorpe Legal Society, 3-time auctioneer for the Public Interest Law Association (PILA) Charity Auction, and was a graduate research assistant for a study abroad in International Commercial Arbitration. He is a past President of the Tifton Bar Association (2010), and is a member of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) serving as Vice-President in 2017. He is also a graduate of GACDL's Bill Daniel Trial Advocacy Program. He enjoys membership of the Georgia Defense of Drinking Drivers (DODD) group, the National College of DUI Defense (NCDD) and the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL). Patrick is also a Life Member of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) where he sits on the NORML Legal Committee. He is familiar with the laws regarding marijuana, THC derivatives, Delta-8, hashish, dabs, and other cannabinoids and derivatives. Patrick was a speaker at Continuing Education seminars in the field of DUI defense orchestrated by the Georgia State Bar Association and the Georgia Defense of Drinking Drivers (DODD) Institute. Patrick's insights on cross examination of officers who use of an "imaginary line" on field sobriety tests has been employed by attorneys across the country with great success. Patrick handles cases where people are accused of DUI, as well as handling marijuana and THC cases, drug possession cases, speeding cases, traffic offenses and general criminal defense. He covers court in his home of Tifton and surrounding areas. In his free time he is active in his church, helps organize events for Tifton Tourism Association, and is a talent buyer since 2014 for bands for Rhythm & Ribs Festival in Fulwood Park in Tifton.
