Jim Brown

South Carolina native Jim Brown is highly regarded by colleagues and judges, and both respected and feared by prosecutors for his knowledgeable and tenacious representation.

After obtaining his law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law, Jim served the public for five years in the Public Defenders’ Offices in Richland County and then Beaufort County. 

In private practice since 2001, he has represented clients of the South Carolina Lowcountry and statewide on all misdemeanor and felony charges, in both state and federal courts. He is also an accomplished attorney in civil rights litigation, governmental litigation, and at the forefront of the burgeoning field of victims’ rights advocacy.

Mr. Brown is active in his profession. He has authored numerous articles, presented seminars and taught courses to other lawyers on criminal defense and trial advocacy. Jim has held every position in the South Carolina Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He now serves on the Board of Directors for the 14th Circuit.
